We got Reggie and Pierre on one side and Reggie and Pierre on the other. The question is, who will be a bigger factor. My answer: Reggie and Pierre (last names to follow).
Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon have been the MVP's main targets all season long and a lot of his success can be attributed to those guys. However, I think Manning's favorite target is Dallas Clark. Also, it seems like defenses are making sure that Reggie Wayne is a non-factor by creating a lot of coverages to take him out of the game. In the stats, he's been relatively useless, but Wayne is opening up a lot for his disciples in Garcon and Collie as well as others. Pierre Garcon got through the Jets defense with relative ease and is giving a lot more production this season than most people probably expected. He's very tricky to cover as he can pretty much do it all. The Saints D will have just as much trouble as the Colts D will. On another note, it seems like all of those slot-esque recievers do a lot in the playoffs. Look at our Super Bowl match-up. There are like eight good recievers playing in total. Wouldn't mind any of them being sent in the Redskins direction.
Anyway, people were calling Reggie Bush an NFL failure. Then he had that broken tackle, juke, cut, and punt return against the Cardinals and he was finally coming into his own. He's been plagued with injury problems, but now he's healthy and ready to go. Bush is the most electrifying player in this Super Bowl with his pure quickness and speed, and is an excellent compliment to this high powered offense. Also, he's got Kim Kardashian waiting for him after the game. Can't beat that. However, he is not an every-down back, which is where his...compliment comes in. Pierre Thomas brings a bit of a different look at the running back position. He can bust through the middle and break tackles as well as burn defenders. The duo of Bush and Thomas opens up Drew "Be Easy" Brees' passing game where there are another five weapons. This running back tandem also are threatening on special teams. I couldn't wait to see NFL Bush turn into NCAA Bush and I think we may have finally gotten it. Good timing.
So, who will triumph in the battle of the Reggie's and Pierres. It's Bush and Thomas. To top that, New Orleans is going to be bringing Lombardi home.
